Tasikmadu Sugar Factory

Located in Karanganyar in Central Java, Tasikmadu sugar factory reflects the Indonesia’s sugar industry. Erratic sugar prices, less modern equipments, reduced sugar cane fields and the lack of local farmers’ interest to sugarcane are problems that add to the weight of competition with imported sugar in free market. The Tasikmadu sugar factory was founded by King Mangkunegara IV during Dutch colonial times.
