Positioned on the slopes of the highest mountain in Sumatra, Kerinci, Kayu Aro plantation was opened in 1920’s by a Dutch company, NV. HVA (Namlodse Venotchaaf Handle Vereeniging Amsterdam). In 1959, the plantation and fabric were taken over by Indonesia government. The main product of Kayu Aro, the black tea, has been considered one of the finest materials of tea making. In fact, it is the oldest tea plantation in the country and is also considered as one of the largest single-area of tea plantations in the world as well.
