Olden Manuscripts

Indonesia is a country historically known as intersection or even melting pot of Indian, Chinese, Arabian, Persian, and European cultures. Those ingredients have influenced the locals, enriched their knowledge and culture. Scriptural tradition is an important part of it. Ironically, in the most parts of the country, the people and government have failed to conserve this important legacy. Olden manuscripts that consist of both historical and cultural events, also traditional wisdom from the past, are disappearing, broken, or traded. There is an island, however, identified as an exception: Bali. Even more, the people of the Island of God have been using words of wisdom and knowledge that written on olden manuscripts as the foundation of their cultural life until today. There we can see olden manuscripts that are living.Tearsheets (2012, in colors)
